Yes you can use Windows live Writer with Joomla 1.0.x and Joomla 1.5.x. But with some limitations, unlike Wordpress and other CMS.
There are several joomla components and plugins (mambots) that can do the job.
- XML-RPC MovableType API
- XML-RPC Blogger API
- XML-RPC Joomla
- XML-RPC JContentPlus API
But the best so far is JcontentPlus Component, it works for both Joomla 1.0.x and Joomla 1.5.x, What makes it different from the rest. It has the feature to add new categories, no problems with "read more" (Split Post) and Page Breaks. You won't even know the difference if your posting for WordPress or Joomla.
